Val di Rabbi

The municipality of Rabbi covers the whole of the valley of the same name, through which the Rabbiés (the torrent it is named after) runs. It is made up of fifty or so groups of houses scattered over both sides of the valley, the largest and most important of which are Pracorno, San Bernardo, Rabbi Fonti and Piazzola.

The economy of Rabbi is based on stock rearing and nature and spa tourism. It produces excellent meat and dairy produce, and since the days of the Austro-Hungarian Empire has been renowned for the quality and healthy properties of the iron-rich waters that spring from the mountains.

These important natural resources are enhanced and safeguarded by the Stelvio National Park, one of the most important protected areas in Europe, created in 1935 between the Trentino-Alto Adige and Lombardia regions.

No visit to Val di Rabbi would be complete without discovering the extraordinary properties of its waters. Rich in iron, they are used for therapeutic purposes in the modern spa complex situated in Rabbi Fonti, where the first “acidulous” water spring was discovered in 1666.

Visitors are also attracted here by the natural beauties of the Stelvio Natural Park, such as Val di Saènt, with the Saènt waterfalls and the recently inaugurated “Monumental larch climb”, a route along which visitors can admire some of the largest and oldest larch trees in Trentino.
